Ok, let me start off this blog post by saying I love models. I style & assist shoots, work on runways, and am surrounded by models a lot of the time. I love seeing a waifer-thin, gaunt girls in corsets, long gowns, and clingy fabrics that show every bump on the body... Although, when shopping for myself and looking in the mirror, I prefer to see a more natural and realistic approach to body image.

Majority of the fashion industry shoots look-books and campaigns with these very same skinny-minnies. Which, if thought about it, doesn't really make sense. About 5 % of the population has the negative amount of body fat that these models have, so why advertise clothes in sizes that wont even fit anyone who actually enjoys a meal.

That being said, an Australian label has taken a new approached to advertising and connecting with their target audience. Brace yourself... shooting their product on real girls.

Toi et Moi has created their Autumn and Winter 2011 campaigns around how 'real' girls look in the range. The brand scoured Melbourne and Sydney, in order to find fashion-forward girls that would rock their styles. And they succeeded.

For the Autumn and Winter 2011 ranges, the brand headed out in Sydney and Melbourne respectively. Below are some of my favorite looks, girls and styles:

I love the contrast of colors at the shoulders on the Rever Cropper Sweater.
This Me'sh Dress is absolutely to die for... I need it.
I love this young take on a corporate look... Stripe Blazer? Yes, please.
This image is my favorite. Not only is her style exactly what I'd like to put on my own body, but her happiness is contagious. Because after all, isn't a smile the best accessory?
